At least six passengers, including three children, were killed on Wednesday and 12 others injured after the minibus they were traveling in ran over an artisanal mine in Somalia’s southern region of Lower Shabelle, the region’s governor said. Mohammad Ibrahim Barre.
He told SONNA news agency that the vehicle had left Marka town and was heading towards Qoryoley town when it ran over the explosive device. “We believe that the enemy, the Shebab, are behind this heinous act,” Barre said, referring to the Islamist group.
Some sources told Xinhua that the number of victims of this latest incident was higher than the figures mentioned.
