As of midday, more than 374,000 people in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province had been affected by the latest rainstorms caused by the typhoon, and more than 187,000 people had been moved to safer places across the province, local authorities announced.
Since August 2, 37 district-level areas of six cities across the province have experienced strong winds, hail and floods. Torrential rains damaged more than 258,000 hectares of crops in the province, one of China’s main grain production bases.
About 23,708 houses collapsed or were damaged, and 149 bridges were damaged or destroyed during the period.
